Our Lips Are Sealed

Many artists these days are copying other singers, and band’s songs. For example, “My lips are sealed” by the Go Go’s. This song was copied by Hilary and Haylie Duff. The lyrics are exactly the same. They talk about everyday life as a teenage girl. The song describes how life is hard as a teenage girl, dealing with the problems that they have to face. Many teenage girls can relate to this song. Songs like these are popular because it helps with their ego, and gives them some encouragement.
The lyrics are about girls who face hard times because of rumours that are spread about them. Within the lyrics they reveal that they don’t care, about what others say. They lyrics describe that they should have self- confidence and not be self- conscience about themselves. The song also teaches that they should not take revenge and do the same, because then they would be no difference between both. To describe this they sing “My lips are sealed” in the chorus.
The song makes me feel happy. It gives me encouragement to not listen to what people have to say about me. I think it is a good song and is suitable for teenage girls. They teach that as a weapon of defence from other people we must use silence. This promotes anti-violence which is good for today’s society. Rather than getting into fights, silence is the best option. As a teenage girl it is hard to be who we want to be without having people to judge us. In the song they sing that it doesn’t matter what people say. Therefore we should be who we are to truly be happy.
In the Go Go’s video, there are a group of girls doing whatever they please and being who they are. They are having fun and show that they can have fun by doing embarrassing things. It is similar to Hilary and Haylie Duff’s video also. The main idea is about being true to you. Both videos promote that. In the Go Go’s video, the group of girls jump into a gigantic fountain and start playing in it, without minding what other people are saying.
